Palo Alto, CA – Sept. 30, 2011 – Rosum Corporation, a developer of high-accuracy wireless location solutions using television signals that held an extensive portfolio of 28 U.S. patents and nine international patents, has announced the sale of its intellectual property portfolio to TruePosition, Inc., a leading provider of wireless location technologies and solutions and a subsidiary of Liberty Media Corporation.
Rosum’s portfolio includes patents related to the use of television signals to create location and timing solutions across a broad range of signal types and is one of only two such technologies that have been shown to work reliably indoors. The patents also cover hybrid location technologies, which combine signals with technologies like GPS, and the use of television signals to provide fine timing assistance for A-GPS.
“Today, TruePosition has 52 U.S. patents and 130 international patents that cover a variety of wireless location technologies. We will continue to bolster our intellectual property portfolio, particularly in areas around high-accuracy and indoor location techniques, which are well-suited for mission-critical location-based safety and security solutions.” – Steve Stuut, CEO, TruePosition Inc.
