Brenner brings more than forty years of experience both as a board member and member of management. During this time, he has worked in general and financial management, and has assisted many emerging companies in the roles of President, General Manager, Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. He has held executive level positions at Formaster Corporation, Corvus Systems Inc., US Leasing International Inc., ITEL Corporation, National BankAmericard (now VISA) and Autographic Business Forms Inc. He also served as venture capital consultant to Hillman Ventures. He is, or has served, as a board member at Affymax, Inc. (NASDAQ: “AFFY”), Bridge Capital Holdings (NASDAQ: “BBNK”), e Nicotine, Inc., Sandstone Diagnostics, Inc., PartMiner, Inc. Vida Systems, Inc., Vello Systems, Inc., SmartLocus, Inc., Abound Logic, Inc., Pavad Medical Systems, Inc. Cardiovention, Inc., Chadmoore Wireless Group (OTC “MOORZ.PK”) and QuickHealth.
He also serves as a member of the board of directors of non-profits, including The Silicon Valley Monterey Bay Council of the Boy Scouts of America (Past Chairman of the Board), the National Boy Scouts of America leadership (National Advisory Council, BSA Foundation (Trustee), National Eagle Scout Association (“NESA”) Committee, Scouting Alumni and Friends (“SAF”) Committee, the Western Region of the Boy Scouts of America (Executive Committee, SAF and NESA Committee Chair). He is also on the Dean’s Advisory Board for the Silberman College of Business at Fairleigh Dickinson University. In the past, he has also served on the boards of The American Red Cross Silicon Valley Chapter (past Vice Chair of the Board), and The Churchill Club (past Chairman of the Board). He holds a BS in accounting with a minor in management information systems from the Silberman College of Business, Fairleigh Dickinson University.
In additon to his Board Member and management team experiences, Brenner has long been an investor, serial entrepreneur and philanthropist. He founded The Brenner Group, Inc.® (www.thebrennergroup.com) in 1987, and served as its CEO until 2015. The Brenner Group provided outsourced “C” Suite executives to venture capital backed tech companies on a part time basis and performed private tech company valuations, such as those required under IRS code 409a. It was one of the oldest and largest firms of its type in Silicon Valley, having assisted more than 2,000 firms since its formation. In 2015, The Brenner Group was acquired by the largest independent consulting/accounting firm in California (Armanino, LLP).
