In a recent article in The Deal Pipeline on Red Hat Inc.’s acquisition of Irish mobile technology company FeedHenry, Tricia Salinero, managing director, commented on how the number of OpenStack acquisitions will increase in the near future. OpenStack is a global collaboration aimed at producing a ubiquitous open source cloud computing platform for public and private clouds.
She noted that there will be more acquisitions around OpenStack in general, and that Red Hat is likely to lead that charge. Salinero, who advised cloud migration startup InMage on its sale to Microsoft Corp. in July, said the next 12 to 18 months will be especially active in terms of consolidation among OpenStack-related technologies. Red Hat will likely pursue what she described as “digestible” targets, or deals valued south of $150 million as it’s typically done in the past.
Woodside Capital Partner’s Research Group is working on an OpenStack research report that will be out later this year.
